Nerd in search of album zip: The benefits and drawbacks of streaming vs downloading music

On March 12, 2002, In Search of... was re-released worldwide, with the largely electronic production backing of the album replaced by live backing provided by 1960s-style power pop band Spymob, giving the new version of the album a more rock-oriented sound. The skits and the intro from the original album were also dropped, significantly shortening the play length.

The album features three skits book-ended to the tracks "Things Are Getting Better", "Stay Together" and "Tape You" telling the loose story of N.E.R.D member Shae Haley, who is featured on the cover, meeting two female high-school groupies in a locker room, ludicrously calling in an escort, and taping them during sexual acts.

For its 2002 worldwide release, N.E.R.D withdrew the original European version of In Search of... and in its place issued a re-recorded version of the album, also known as the "rock version", with the electronic backings of the original version being replaced by a more rock-oriented sound with the use of live drums and guitars played by American funk rock band Spymob. After the making of this version, Chad Hugo learned to play the guitar and the band have since kept to this style, now mostly playing their own instruments. Explaining the creation of the new version, Pharrell Williams has stated that as N.E.R.D was to be an entirely different venture to his and Hugo's work with the Neptunes, the band's music should also sound different, hence the decision to re-record the album.

The 2002 version cuts the intro and three skits found on the original album and features a slightly re-arranged track listing. The change of tactics in the re-release also allowed the group to tour and play live as N.E.R.D more easily. It was released as an enhanced CD with extra CD-ROM material as well.

The previously revealed N.E.R.D. x adidas NMD Hu is now popping up in the news feed again. More specifically, a first official date has been announced by adidas. The sneakers, which celebrate the 20th anniversary of the iconic studio album In Search of..., will drop on August 6th via the adidas CONFIRMED app and at selected retailers.

Alongside this, he will also soon be pairing his silhouette with other celebrities. More specifically, in perfect timing, adidas and Pharrell are launching a brand new N.E.R.D. x adidas NMD Hu, celebrating the 20th anniversary of N.E.R.D.'s In Search of... album.

N.E.R.D's debut album didn't move mountains when it was released back in 2001, but the impact of Chad Hugo, Shay Haley and most notably Pharrell Williams' ahead-of-its-time album is felt in 2014 with Skateboard P putting his unique sound on hip hop songs all over the place.

When Bonamassa parks his tour bus at "Nerdville East," he can often be found producing albums for vital blues artists, occasionally headlining the Ryman Auditorium and, at least once, hopping on stage to join Brad Paisley at a packed 4th of July gig.

And this season, he represents Music City behind his "Royal Tea" album and live film, shot at the Ryman. The studio release earned Bonamassa his third career Grammy nomination, for Best Contemporary Blues Album, and the live DVD scored a nod in the upcoming regional Emmy Awards.

A 44-year-old New York native who spent about two decades in Los Angeles, Bonamassa moved to Nashville part-time in summer 2017. However, he began writing songs and making albums in Music City years before, working largely out of Music Row studio Ocean Way.

And in 2020, as COVID-19 punished touring musicians, Bonamassa and his team filled the Ryman pews with cardboard cutouts of fans for an audience-free livestream that raised funds for artists impacted by the pandemic. It reached roughly 100,000 viewers in 44 countries, Bonamassa said, fueling part of a $550,000 fundraiser that year. He released the show as a live album and DVD last summer, earning a regional Emmy nomination.
